Kids Car Review : 2016 Kia Sedona

Kids Car reviews 2016 Kia Sedona

Now where do I start? Well, if you have been here for awhile, you already know my mom has worked very hard to get to where she is right now. One of the companies she works with that I personally, really like is Kia.  We’ve been driving the 2016 Kia Sedona minivan for a while now. It has these backseat chairs that recline, like ALL the way back,  which are perfect for road trips.

Just an example off the top of my head, about how great they are is from last weekend….when we went on a trip to Galveston, TX. We drove there which took 3, almost 4, hours. Ugh….and we had to leave at 6am and I remember falling asleep on the way there and then waking up at 8am and thinking that it was 8pm ;).

Anyway what was I saying….. Kia, I really like when we get to drive your new vehicles. I like looking around in the car and seeing what I can find/do then I look at the owner’s manual and seeing any “secrets” that I can find out about. Like at first, my sister and I were disappointed because we could not find an entertainment system. So I was looking through the manual and I saw it…… THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM!!!!!!!!! Sorry, got a little excited. Since then we’ve watched some movies in there like The Fantastic 4, and Kung Fu Panda 2.

I only have one complaint…..I like your company, I really do but it’s very hard when your parents tell you “If you want to get paid, clean the Kia.” So I did.

Kid Car Reviews detailing the 2016 Kia Sedona

I started with the driver side and then the passenger side. I vacuumed under the front seats…and under the front carpets surprisingly the middle seats were easier than the back seats. They were the hardest because you have to move the seats back and forth. Now I haven’t talked about the front much yet. That’s mostly because I can’t drive yet.

I think the seat warmers are a fun feature because you can put the seat all the way up and when your sister sits in the front seat-  she freaks out because her seat  is extra hot- did I mention we live in Texas???

To wrap things up, Kia is a really great family company not just for my mom but for me, my dad, my 1 brother, and 2 sisters- for all of us!

Give back locally with the Champions for Kids Fall Kids’ Essentials Program #SimpleGiving

Disclaimer: I have participated in this program on behalf of Champions for Kids and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.
Fall Kids Essentials

Fall always seems to usher us into a season of thankfulness and giving.  Given the multiple number of birthdays and holiday events, we also have a lot of opportunity to get carried away focusing only on ourselves this time of year. One thing we try to do to maintain a balance of give & take in our family is to seek out community projects to participate in.  The Champion for Kids Fall Kids’ Essentials Program is one that I’m very excited to participate in with our family as a way to give back to our local community. All donations stay in the local community and will be distributed through school districts nearest to each store. This program also allows school districts to win one of multiple awards, totaling $10,000.

Champions for Kids makes it simple to give kids in your community the resources they need to thrive. By working with retailers, schools and volunteers to host in-store donation campaigns, service projects and community events, CFK has served more than 3,900,000 children in 50 states since 2004. The goal is to help 20 million children by the year 2020 through programs like SIMPLE Service and SIMPLE Giving, as well as events like RazorFest and the organization’s Annual Conference. Champions for Kids has donated to 29,000 community organizations to support children’s’ needs and has leveraged 208,000 people for their cause. Additional information about Champions for Kids can be found by visiting

It’s so easy to participate in this program with your kids! The current SIMPLE Giving program for fall is taking place in over 1,400 Walmart stores across the United States, collecting items kids need–such as snacks and personal care items. If your Walmart store is participating, simply purchase items and place them in the donation bins at the front of the store. Just look for the purple product display near the register. This display has suggested items to donate, but you’re welcome to choose any kid-friendly items that you’d like to give. Once you’ve purchased your items, drop them into the donation bins after checkout.

Win with YOUR #SimpleGiving Service project

In addition, General Mills and Unilever are sponsoring a SIMPLE Service project. SIMPLE Service projects are Champions for Kids initiatives that create easy ways for people to give back to the children in their communities.
Participants can visit to learn more and share their stories for a chance to win one of several prizes totaling $10,000 on behalf of their school. Finalists will be highlighted on the Champions for Kids Facebook page where voters can ‘like’ and ‘share’ their favorite stories

It truly is #simplegiving.

Easy DIY Cinnamon Ornaments #McCormickBaking

* This is a sponsored post by me on behalf of  McCormick. All opinions are 100% my owneasy cinnamon ornaments

This genius-holiday-themed-non-messy-kid-friendly-makes-your-house-smell-like-a-home activity will bring smiles to your family for sure! This is so simple and I LOVE McCormick for sharing it with me-  Easy Cinnamon Ornaments! Why have I never done this before ?!?!?!?

Your kids are going to think you are amazing!  Your guest will think you’ve been baking up a storm & not 1 calorie will be added to your waistline. Promise.

JUST 2 ingredients, a few supplies, and heck, throw on a cute apron (no one will be getting messy but everyone looks good in a cute apron).  Here we go….

Easy Cinnamon Ornaments

  • 3/4 cup applesauce ( If you use the cups like I did, just use 2 of them)
  • 1 bottle (4.12 ounces) McCormick® Cinnamon
  • Ground Cookie cutters,  Drinking straw,  & Ribbon

* a rolling pin &  plastic wrap would also be handy!

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F. Mix applesauce and cinnamon in small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. (You may need use your hands to incorporate all of the cinnamon.) Using about 1/4 of the dough at a time, roll dough to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap. Peel off top sheet of plastic wrap. Cut dough into desired shapes with 2- to 3-inch cookie cutters. Make a hole at top of ornament with drinking straw or skewer. Place ornaments on baking sheet.

This gives you an idea of what the dough will look like after its all mixed together.

  2. Bake 2 1/2 hours. Cool ornaments on wire rack. (Or, to dry ornaments at room temperature, carefully place them on wire rack. Let stand 1 to 2 days or until thoroughly dry, turning occasionally).

    Bakes ornaments

Bake at 200 for 2.5 hrs- Perfect time to snuggle up and watch your favorite Christmas movie by the fire.

  3. Insert ribbon through holes and tie to hang. Decorate with opaque paint markers, found in arts and crafts stores, if desired.ornaments in tree

Here is the finished product! They really were so simple & days later they still smell fantastic. In addition to using them as ornaments you could use them as special gift tags by writing on them with a paint pen & adding them to packages.

What’s your favorite thing to bake during the holidays?

A simple smile can do a lot for someone. It can reassure them. It can make an uncomfortable situation better and it lets others know you are on their team.

cold day at co-op

Just this morning, when it was below freezing in Texas, my husband and I had to bundle up early to brave below freezing temperatures to unload a produce truck that had been rescheduled due to icy road conditions for our local co-op. Honestly, we were not exactly looking forward to the job at hand. When we first arrived to our location site we were greeted by several volunteers who had not only shown up before their work day began to brave the cold with us, they were SMILING too! At the sight of the first smile we knew they were on our team. Their smiles told us we were not alone. They were in this with us. In the cold, doing a tough job and still smiling. It seems like such a small thing but it meant the world to us. Our outsides may have been chilly but those smiles warmed our hearts today! I have been smiling all day. Those smiles were contagious.
