Give Your Kids A Rockstar Summer with Pringles ® Summer Jam

Tracking PixelPringles Summer Jam Rockstar

Now that we’ve hit middle ground with summer, we are getting creative keeping everyone busy and keeping the fun rolling! I am determined that we will have Rockstar Summer until school begins again. Pringles® Summer Jam is helping to keep the fun alive by sponsoring our post today.

We spend a lot of time in our car during the summer months. Clearly, that calls for an epic summer playlist to be made! We’ve taken a few short road-trips and every Sunday afternoon we have family “car-e-oke”, singing along in the car with a weekly playlist the kiddos create. Music just makes things fun. And, you can’t have a road-trip with out snacks, right? Pringles® are perfect for packing on a road trip. The containers don’t allow the the chips to get smooshed with all the other stuff we bring along!

Speaking of the containers, I love is that the kids can get creative with them after all the Pringles® are gone (which doesn’t take long around here!) Save those containers parents! I’m about to make YOU a rockstar!

Most days we are at the pool during the summer. On the occasional rainy day or extreme heat days, pull out the containers you’ve saved, the drumsticks from when your husband was in that garage band in college, and some multi-colored utility tape and let the kids decorate to their hearts content!

Pringles® knows that people are already using their cans as instruments, so they’re challenging music sensation M4Sonic and a group of musicians of varying styles and backgrounds – called the Percussion Prodigies – to incorporate the brand’s iconic can into their musical expression. After the kids had finished their musical crafting. I showed them the Percussion Prodigies’ videos at for inspiration. Check it out for ideas on how you can make your own Pringles® can instrument too!

Our kids spent an entire afternoon working together, crafting, creating music and laughing while having a “rehearsal” for their new band- All with very little direction from mom. I’ll say that qualifies as a rockstar summer for sure!!  Sometimes the things we do don’t have to be complicated or cost a lot to be valuable time spent. Music is something we can all have a great time with.

Love Notes: A Quick & Easy Valentine’s Day Craft

Valentine's Day Love Notes

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Don’t worry if you haven’t gotten your Valentine’s done yet, Kaitlyn has us covered! I am so proud of this girl for putting this together. “Love Notes” as she calls them are cute, crafty, & quick. Everything you’ll need you probably have sitting in your desk drawer right now.

Valentines Day Love Note Supplies

  • paperclips
  • heart stickers
  • Optional : paper to attach your Love Note & a pen to write a personalized message

Kaitlyn put together this quick video to show us just how easy Love Notes are to make. ( I wasn’t feeling well when they were making these so shout out to her brother Sebastian for filming the video!)

I loved her suggestion of using them for bookmarks. All her classmates are doing a lot of reading and this is something that they can use beyond the holiday.

Happy Valentine’s Day from our family to yours!

Homemade Crayons : Making Christmas Beautiful

I love making fun things with the kids at Christmas… cut out Christmas cookies the kitchen covered in flour and the house smelling of sweetness….glittered adorned cards sent out to those we love….and lots and lots of popsicle sticks, foam stickers, pipe-cleaners and painted hand-prints crafted into ornaments, reindeer, and any other celebratory symbol of the holidays. This year as we were cleaning out the craft closet (yes we have an entire closet full of craft supplies…that’s another post) and noticing our abundance of crayons we decided to reinvent the Christmas craft.

We decided to take some old and broken things and make them new again.  Crayons. I cannot tell you how many crayons this family with 4 children and 2 former preschool teacher parents have accumulated!

We sorted out all our broken crayons from the ones that still had good life left and then sorted again by color and broke any larger pieces into smaller ones.
They weren’t always the same shade but as long as they were in he same color family it was fine.
We preheated the oven to 350, then we got a silicone baking tray, ours were in the shape of snowflakes, and  places all the broken pieces in a section. After the oven was preheated we placed the silicone baking tray onto a metal sheet and popped them in the oven. Turn the oven down to 250 for about 10 minutes or until the crayons started to look a little soupy. Then we took them out. I stirred each section with a plastic knife to even out the color in each section. After they cooled a bit I stuck them in the freezer for another 30 minutes to harden.

After that we peeled them out of our snowflake mold and Ta-Da!! Snowflake Christmas crayons Super easy and so cute. Package these up with a cute bow and new coloring book and these would make cute stocking stuffer! What’s some of your favorite Christmas/Holiday crafts to do with your kids?
