Enjoy some fun in the sun at Pirate Beach at LEGOLAND Discovery Center when the interactive water playground opens for the summer season on May 1.

Geared towards children ages three to 10, Pirate Beach is a seasonal water playground featuring 30 interactive gadgets pumping and spraying thousands of gallons of water.  Structured after a shipwrecked pirate vessel, Pirate Beach’s central feature is a playground where kids can navigate through water jets and fountains, squirt cannons and splash down water slides.  Looming at the top of the 20-foot-tall mast is a 50-gallon bucket poised to dump water on guests every few minutes. Throughout Pirate Beach, guests will also encounter 12 interactive models and a soft play area that includes pirates, cannons, treasure chests, palm trees and sand castles.

The best part is that entry to Pirate Beach is included in the price of admission.  Remember to bring your  bathing suits, towels, change of clothes and prepare for fun…if ye dare!

SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine Texas

One family activity not to be missed is SEA LIFE Aquarium! We recently got the chance to visit and it is by far one of our favorite things to do in Grapevine, TX. From the 360° Underwater Ocean Tunnel, 30 incredible displays, and more than 5,000 sea creatures everyone in your group will find something that they love.

The kids were super excited to see all the various sea creatures and varieties of fish and I loved how relaxing it all was. For me, any location that allows the kids to have fun and the parents to relax a bit is a big win! I didn’t realize how large the location was prior to our visit. It spans several floors and has so much to offer. When we began our journey inside the front desk gave us scavenger hunt of questions to fill out. At the end, we were able to redeem it for a prize in the gift shop.

Once we got inside everyone was just captivated by all the different creatures we hadn’t seen before.

The seahorses were definitely one of our favorite attractions. There were so many and they were just mesmerizing! SEA LIFE has been a pioneer in the field of seahorse breeding, successfully breeding and rearing nine different species to date to help this very sensitive and endangered sea creature from facing extinction.

Shark Mission is a new area at SEA LIFE that allows visitors to learn about several different breeds of sharks.  There is also a great photo op area to take your picture inside the jaws of the largest shark that ever lived. The kids had a great time hamming it up for this picture.

At the end there was an area where we could see and even touch sea creatures and starfish. There is also a fun play area to explore and get any extra energy out- socks are required to play so make sure to bring an extra pair if the kids are wearing sandals.
