Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day movieHave you just ever had “one of those days” ?? I may have had one or two hundred in my lifetime. Kidding….(sort of) but did I feel right at home watching Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Our family of six totally has had at least a few crazy days. It is playing in theaters now and is on the list of family fun for everyone this weekend!

The movie follows 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life – a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. When Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns he is not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette), and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one.

I love the transformation that happen with in the parental characters, played by Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner in this film as they lead their family. I can completely relate to the avalanche of craziness one day can hold. What I love most about this movie is the emphasis that they place on perspective. No matter the circumstances our perspective really is key. My favorite line from the movie:  ” You gotta have the bad days so you can love the good days even more”.
