American Express SERVE

As our children become older, they also have more opportunities to earn and spend money. They learn a lot from what we tell them but as with most things, they do what we show them. Knowing this has made us much more conscious of our spending when we have them out shopping with us.  We want them have good habits and solid budgeting in their financial future. Those habits start now, with the smaller purchases we make every day.

And let’s face it…. not everything is a “necessity” no matter how much we rationalize it.

Regardless of our spending habits, everyone could use a refresher lesson in budgeting and financial responsibility. The new American Express Serve Cash Back card is the first prepaid debit card to offer cash back. I am going to be doing an experiment in teaching our kids and myself better budgeting habits in the months leading up to the holidays. #GOALS

These months can be the trickiest to budget for so I think its a perfect time to teach these skills. Our family is taking a trip to New York this Christmas so we will have to be extremely careful with our budget so that we can do a few “extras” during trip.  I feel like this is a huge part of preparing our children for an independent life and another reason I am so excited about the American Express Serve Cash Back card.
