DIY Halloween Costumes Recap

chefGasp! Can you believe Halloween is almost here?!?! We’ve been enjoying cooler temps, drinking apple cider, made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch and last weekend even watched “Its the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

While we aren’t much for the spooky scary stuff,  the Chase’s always love dressing up for anything, anytime at Halloween.  As I am busy trying to sew, adorn and construct costumes for 2013, I thought it would be fun to recap a few previous years costumes.

The girls created matching hula girl costumes from the dress up collection.

Most of our costumes are created by a combination of creativity and our own closets. Lucky for us,  imagination runs rampant here among our brood. Costume creation is a perfect outlet.

Looking forward to sharing this years costumes with you soon!  What are you & yours dressing up as this year? Feel free to post a link your best DIY costume idea or favorite Halloween blog post memory in the comments!

  1. Found your post via SITS Girls Blogtober. What great costumes! We typically do DIY ones (with a family theme) now that we have a child. My favorite in recent years was 2 years ago when we did Toy Story. Admittedly my son’s Buzz costume & my Jessie hat came from the Disney Store (free with points from our Disney Visa), but otherwise DH & I were completely DIY. Thanks for sharing your photos and hope you have a Happy Halloween!

  2. Wow – love all those! I am no good at doing/making costumes! you rock!

Especially love the Despicable me ones!

    • Thanks for the blog love!! We really do love making all these silly costumes. My husbands pirate wig was a re-purposed Hannah Montana wig- still makes me giggle.

  3. Great costumes! I have done a lot of DIY costumes in the past, but this year the kids all wanted to go buy super hero costumes. I am actually a bit thankful to take that off my to do list this year.

  4. Thanks for checking out my post 🙂 Your family looks so creative! I thought DIY costumes sadly were a thing of past, so it’s cool to see what people come up with.

  5. I’m not so good at DIY. This year my son begged me for a morph suit (!) and my daughter is revisiting the bat princess costume she wore a couple years ago. So it kinda balanced out cost-wise for me there!

  6. Oh my gosh. The minion and the cowgirl are my favorites! And, I just love how your family looks like they just enjoy each other so much. Beautiful.

  7. I’m kinda partial to the cowgirl look – tres adorbs!

Popped by from SITS Girls Throwback Thursday.

  8. Cute!!
