Daddy Daughter Dance & Date Nights

Each year, right around Valentines Day, my husband schedules a special date night with our daughters. For the past few years he has made their date night part of the Daddy Daughter dance put on by our city at the convention center. Although our family is pretty good about doing things together and making time to spend individually together throughout the year, the Daddy-Daughter dance is always an extra special night.  One that is looked forward to all year, by the dads as much as the daughters.

With tickets purchased well in advance (it is a VERY popular event), both Dad and daughters select a new or favorite outfit. Think jacket/tie and pretty dresses for the girls. I help with fancy hair-dos, lip gloss, and always allow them to select a few sparkly accessories from my jewelry to wear for the evening. Like any special date night, pictures are taken before they leave for their event.

Randy is always so great to send me pictures throughout the night to keep me updated on all the fun. ( I will usually plan a fun Mother/Sons night and send him pictures of our fun too.) The decorations are always lovely. A sit down dinner (Pizza Inn) is served along with a fantastic candy bar spread that seems to go on for miles! There is usually a fun photo booth to help capture fun they have. ( If you know us, you know we can’t resist a fun photo booth.)

This year the girls that attended all received a tiara at the dance. Every girl should feel like a princess! tiara

And let’s not forget the dancing… no dad can resist his princess asking “Daddy, will you dance with me?”  Maybe its just one night a year but those dads become dancing fools. And the girls, well, its building confidence and creating memories that they will never forget.

Does your city offer fun events like these? How do you incorporate special date nights with your children?

  1. Awww, so sweet! When my daughter was in Girl Scouts, she and her dad used to attend the yearly Daddy-Daughter dance. My daughter still remembers how a lot of dads would pretty much stand around, while hers was busting a move!

  2. Enjoy this time because it goes by so quick. My oldest will be 19 in June and I can remember her looking so forward to Daddy Daughter dances. Where did the time go???

  3. My city doesn’t have a daddy daughter dance but my daughter’s dance studio does. This will be there first year and my husband can’t wait. It’s so sweet that kids get to do these things.

  4. What fun! Your daughter will love looking back on this and telling her own kiddos about the fun she had with her dad. I know there are at least a couple Daddy-Daughter dances around town, but mine haven’t ever gone. They do, however, dance around the house like crazy and both love to do it!

  7. Looks like your princess did better at her Daddy/Daughter dance than my oldest did when she attended hers years back. My poor DH, who was actually excited to go, came back that night all pouty and said “she ditched me within 10 minutes to hang with her friends.” It was kinda sad, but I admit I chuckled. Your husband is a great sport with the pics! Your daughter will have wonderful memories of that night! Stopping by from #SITSblogging
