Bring Your Team Together: Team Building with Taste Events

Dallas Team Building With Taste Blogger EventWho else is watching cooking competition shows and dreams what it would be like to participate? Do you make your kids help you in the kitchen, responding to you “YES, Chef!” ? In our house its a semi- regular occurrence. Recently, I was invited for a super fun experience exactly like that with Team Building with Taste at their Dallas location.

After serving us morning mimosas and apps, we were divided into cooking teams and raced against the clock to prepare a meal worthy of chef’s approval. Not only were we racing against the clock but we had several challenges and plot twists thrown at us too. When the clock countdown came to a close, the heat was on as it was time to present our dish to the chef and discuss our strategy and process.

Our team did an amazing job. We did make some adjustments to the basic recipe that resulted in us winning the competition!! (I’ll be sharing our recipe in another post so you can make our winning recipe at home!)

Chef Joey Allette Team Building with Taste Dallas

Chef Joey Allette is an award-winning chef who has a great reputation in Dallas. He was incredibly entertaining and knowledgeable making the experience even more fun. I immediately called my husband afterwards and recommended he schedule an event here for his board and executive staff. This really is a great alternative to team building that eliminates physical fears some have with ropes courses or other trust challenges.

In addition to business team building, this is perfect for volunteer groups, birthday parties ( ages 13+ allowed in the kitchen). I’m thinking this will be a great option for Kaitlyn’s next birthday! Occasionally there are cooking classes that individuals can sign up for. Check out their special Fathers Day event details here.

Green Chef Delivers Organic Dinners to Your Doorstep

Life is busy. I don’t know anyone who isn’t looking for ways to simplify in order to have more time for the things they enjoy most. Last month, I partnered with Green Chef to delegate my meal planning (and shopping!) responsibilities to give me more time and simplify one more area of our lives.

Handing over the reigns on what’s in the fridge can be a little intimidating. We have a couple of vegetarians, a couple of omnivores, and of course a few general preferences I have to be aware of when shopping and meal planning normally. None of that was an issue with Green Chef. They have a variety of organic meal plan preferences you can choose from. Vegan? Paleo? No Problem.

Once you pick your preferences, Green Chef sends fresh, premeasured, organic ingredients right to your doorstep. The delivery dated are flexible and there is no commitment. You can skip weeks whenever you want. The meals arrive in insulated, eco-friendly, refrigerated boxes. There is no need to be home when it arrives.

The meals they deliver are certified organic. That means no GMOs, no synthetic pesticides and no growth hormones or antibiotics. Green Chef puts an emphasis on using seasonal ingredients and sustainable suppliers, including small family farms. Knowing where the food is sourced from and supporting these growers and farms gives me a good feeling as well. You can check out all the Green Chef suppliers here.

Ultimately, what makes this service work is the timesaving element paired with the taste and ease of cooking.  Each box includes a very easy to follow recipe card and cooking instructions with step by step pictures. I could leave this for my family and feel totally confident that they could make it with out me there. I may just order this for them to be delivered when I leave on my next travel trip.

On the average of 30 minutes, you will have a all-organic delicious meal ready to serve in about the same time it takes most people to decide on what to order off the take out menu. Your wallet and your waistline will thank you. Our family favorite was a veggie quesadilla recipe made with whole-wheat tortillas filled with Monterey Jack cheese, plus red bell pepper, pinto bans, and corn seasoned with a paprika-cumin spice blend. The side was a simple but flavorful lime-dressed slaw and cilantro-scallion rice.

My experience with Green Chef was extremely positive and the chef created dishes were very tasty. I was able to utilize more of my mental energy those weeks on projects and not meal planning. I will definitely be utilizing the Green Chef service again soon!

Signature Smoothies (with a secret ingredient!!) #HowDoYouEmergenC

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #HowDoYouEmergenC #CollectiveBiasemergenc-berry-smoothie

Life can be so busy and it’s important to ensure you and your family get in all the important nutrients to enjoy it. Signature breakfast smoothies are my go-to for this because they are super easy to make, take along with me, and I can pack in all kinds of good fruits and veggies.  I like to power pack them with a one SECRET ingredient too….a packet of Emergen-C!

I have a habit of always traveling with a few packets of Emergen-C Super Orange in my purse. I started ordering a ordering a smoothie from the hotel and stirring in a packet of Emergen-C Super Orange flavor once it arrived.  Doing this allows me to keep up my routine even when I am away from home. I feel so much better now that I’ve found another way to keep consistency in life even with crazy schedules.

The last trip I took my family and I actually sent pictures of our breakfast smoothies to one another. It was reassuring that this was something they were able to keep up on their own too. ( I am hoping that means they like it just as much as I do! ) Our signature smoothie this week included:

  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 raspberries
  • 1/4 c. blueberries
  • 1/4 c. mango
  • 1/2 c. coconut water
  • 1 packet Emergen-C Super Orange flavor

Step one: Add all fruits to blender

Step 2: add coconut water and Emergen-C Super Orange ( or your own favorite flavor)

Step 3: Blend until smooth, approx 10-15 seconds

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!!

The best part of this is that everyone has developed their own signature smoothie and it allows them to be creative. Here are a few other signature smoothie combinations we regularly make at home:

Triple Berry :  yogurt, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, banana, 1 packet EmergenC Super Orange flavor
Island Time Reset:  coconut water, mango, spinach, pineapple, banana, 1 packet EmergenC Super Orange flavor
Green Machine:  kale, almond milk, banana, agave syrup, 1 packet EmergenC Super Orange flavor
The Hulk: peanut butter, oats, almond milk, banana

EmergenC is such a wonderful addition because 7 B Vitamins enhance energy naturally* without caffeine which is fantastic for the whole family. It makes me feel good knowing that I have EmergenC on hand when I need it whether I am at home or traveling. The single serving packets make it so convenient. They are also easy to find anywhere if you run out or are away from home. I typically pick ours up at Walgreen’s. It comes in several flavors, all easily found in the isle near the pharmacy.

Check out more great ways to add in Emergen-c to your drink recipes HERE and HERE.

Everyone thought these were adorable and all I did was push a few cute toothpicks in. I mean, I was going to make their lunches anyway, right???

I hope this has been a help to you and that you all aren’t judging me for not baking from scratch, creating an actual recipe, or something. The reality is we have to know our limits. Sometimes those restrictions are because of limited hours in a day and sometimes we just have to balance things. For me, this season is about bringing joy and keeping myself sane and it requires simple things. Simple can still be cute.

Plan the Perfect Tailgating Party #TailgateTraditions

This post was written by me through an activation with HireInfluence on behalf of Community Coffee. Although I received compensation for participating in the campaign, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

There are a few words that are synonymous with fall : crisp air, multicolored leaves, pumpkins, football, and coffee. In the south, fall mostly means football and that means tailgating. I have to confess LOVE tailgating season, not because I love sport, because I love seeing people getting together and enjoying life.

There is always so much great food, friends, and fun that this time of year brings together. I am a firm believer that tailgating can begin as early in the day as you like. Typically though, plan on 3 to 4 hours before the game to set up. That should give you plenty of time to cook the food, play some games and just hang out with your group. Don’t forget to factor in some time to break everything down once you’re done.

If you have a solid tailgating group of friends and family, assigning 1-2 things per household makes it easy to make sure you have everything. Put someone in charge of food, someone in charge of the grill and another in charge of sides. Don’t forget the utensils, plates, cups, and garbage bags. We have claimed the “coffee bar/desert station” as our tailgating contribution.

If you decide to set up a coffee bar like this at your next tailgating get together you could win BIG! This year, Community Coffee Company is partnering with Southwest Airlines® for its annual Instant Win Sweepstakes game and sweepstakes, Tailgate Traditions. 2 million packages of Community® coffee will give fans a chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to Houston for the Big Game along with over 500 instant win prizes.
