Arbonne 30 Day Feeling Fit Detox

I am so excited to be posting  the first Fitness Friday of 2014! Yesterday we talked about all the ways I was setting myself up for success in my new fitness/health goals this year and one of those ways involves concentrating on what I am fueling my body with. While we typically eat healthy, I knew I hadn’t done well in this area over the holiday break and would be participating in an Arbonne Detox Boot Camp Program using the 30 Day Feeling Fit kit. This post will tell you why I personally chose this program,  give you an overview of how it works, and of course I’ll be updating on the blog with my progress along the way.

reasons to detox

When I decided to participate in this program, I already knew there were several things about Arbonne that I loved. Arbonne International is a health and wellness company with products that include skin care, baby care, cosmetics, and nutrition products.  All the products are certified vegan and contain no artificial flavors, colors, dyes, fragrances, or sweeteners. The 30 day feeling fit kit is designed to help pinpoint possible food sensitivities that you may not be aware of. It will also help the body to detox from addictive foods and the chemicals that are found in the processed products we eat. By shedding the toxins that have been  built up in the body and eliminating things that are hard to digest, like gluten and dairy, many people lose weight on the program as well. These factors were all things I knew I could support and would feel confident sharing with others when they asked about my results.

Arbonne 30 Day Feeling Fit Kit

The kit contains 2 Protein Shake Mixes (Vanilla or Chocolate) 2 Energy Fizz Tabs (Citrus or Pomegranate) 2 Fit Chews, Chocolate 2 Herbal Detox Teas 1 Daily Fiber Boost

Since I am participating in this as a Virtual Detox Boot Camp program I also have access to great, local coaches that are available to answer any nutrition questions I may have along the way. They also offer delicious meal suggestions and are even willing to do grocery store tours with us to help us know what to buy.  What I love about this is that I am always eating REAL foods. This means that this is a sustainable lifestyle change, not a diet, or something that is dependent upon a chemical product to maintain. This is something that our family has been working towards for a while.

A typical day looks something like this :

Wake Up

  • make a cup of herbal detox tea
  • energy fizz drink ( instead of coffee)

  • Arbonne Protein Shake +Fiber

  • Energy Fizz drink
  • Add a Fit Chew, green apple, a few berries,  or 8-9 raw nuts

*I can also add a recovery Protein Shake in after a tough workout.

I look forward to keeping you updated with my progress over the next month! Feel free to comment or contact me with any questions along the way too. I’m not an Arbonne representative but if you’ve been looking for healthy way to get started in the new year I highly recommend this program and am glad to connect you with someone to get started!

Fitness Friday – 5K SANTA RUN

santa run logo

Looks like Santa is RUNNING to town this year!  Imagine hundreds of Santa’s walking and running through downtown Waxahachie and the beautiful Ellis County Courthouse.  On Saturday, December 14, 2013, that visual will become a reality with the inaugural YMCA Santa Run 5k presented by HEB and Baylor Medical Center of Waxahachie.

This fun, family event will feature participants running or walking in full Santa costumes in either the Santa Run 5k or Elf fun run 1 mile format.

Live Christmas music, Milk and Cookies, Kids activities and plenty of smiles will be in abundance for the event that will surely become an annual tradition.

The run is set to begin at 10am but there will also be lots of free activities for whatever size kid you are. Pre and post-race activities will be available for all, bounce houses, letters to Santa, Mrs. Clause’s Zumbathon, photo opportunities and more. The run will be starting and finishing from the beautiful downtown square and incorporating the Train depot, the bike and run trail, Getzendaner Park and Jefferson Street.

Randy & I have already picked up our Santa suits for tomorrow and are so excited to participate in such a fun run in our own community. Thanks to everyone at the Waxahachie YMCA and all who have volunteered to make this such a successful event!

In other Fitness Friday news,  I have almost completed another 100 mile challenge but this time in just 2 WEEKS! Because of the icy days we had several of those miles had to be on a bike but this was a challenge for sure.  It was great to see what I was able to accomplish!

Fitness Friday Black Friday

Black Friday.
The day after Thanksgiving.
The day after turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, & pumpkin pie.

Not typically the day you want to update your blog on your fitness progress, right?
Well, its fitness friday. Good, bad, or ugly….this is the honest story.

We missed the Turkey Trot we had planned on participating in. Super disappointed about that. This year I did my best to plan a healthier Thanksgiving menu. It was Martha Stewart perfection and so delicious and not full of unnecessary calories. I skipped the rolls but I still indulged an extra slice of pumpkin pie. Ya win some, ya lose some.

I expected a huge set back this morning but to my surprise when I did my weekly weigh in, I was still on track with my goals! Woo Hoo!! Keep moving forward.

Fitbit mileage report

My total Fitbit miles for the 1st day of the 100 mile challenge

Recently, a friend of mine invited me to join a 100 mile challenge beginning on Nov 29, to be completed in 2 weeks! Black Friday to some means early morning shopping, this year it meant early morning running if I was going to get 100 miles done in two weeks. Lucky for me I got a Fitbit for my birthday to help me keep track of my miles. By the end of the day I had logged 7.09 miles. Only 93 more to go!

Possibly the best Black Friday deal I’ve ever made!

Fitness Friday 10k Training, New Shoes & Planking Challenge

Hello Friends! Its another busy, busy, week here with the Chase’s.( Isn’t it always…geez. ) We have been here, there, and everywhere but I have a successful Fitness Friday update for you this week, planking challenge, and a review of the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 Running shoes.

First things first- WE STARTED 5k-to-10k TRAINING.

I cannot believe that only 6 months ago I could not even run 1 mile without stopping. Nor had I ever really run since maybe high school??? Even then, I was trying to find ways to get out of the P.E. requirement.  Now we are training for a 10k. Blows my mind every stinking time I think about it. It is tough and sometimes it doesn’t feel great when we are doing the actual running part or the getting out the door to go run part……but after we finish a run….I feel like a complete rock star! I mean, probably its endorphins, or just the relief that the hard part is over for that day, but that feeling of accomplishment carries me through so many other areas of life too. It is definitely a confidence booster. I’m still not fast but I am committed. We are part of an amazing running group that is so encouraging and helpful. It great being surrounded by others that believe in you.

Getting new shoes helps too.

Doesn’t EVERY girl love new shoes?!?! Every runner-girl I know definitely LOVES getting new shoes.  Since I had practically worn out my shoes from summer 5k training ( we did the 5k training part 2x) I was in need of a new pair. So my sweet husband took me to the running store and with the help one of the associates, we picked out these Brooks Adrenaline GTS 14 running shoes. (New running shoes were on my birthday wishlist!) They were a brand change from the ones I had been wearing but similar in fit. Let me just tell you, I think I am a Brooks girl for life. They cushion in all the right places and fits snug enough while leaving plenty for room for me to still move my toes. And while I know when you pick out running shoes its all about the fit, not fashion, but this pair is pretty too! I really couldn’t be happier with them!!

As if that weren’t enough, Randy & I are also participating in a planking challenge for November.  For 30 days our group will  keep each other accountable to complete each day’s planking requirement. Planking exercises work your upper abs, your lower abs, your obliques, and your lower back. They also promote good posture and help prevent back injuries. Below  is the plank challenge schedule.   I’d love to have you join us- Just leave me a comment and let me know you are participating!

1.       Get face down on the floor resting on your forearms and knees.
2.       Push off the floor, raising up off your knees onto your toes and resting mainly on your elbows.
3.       Contract your abs to keep yourself up and prevent your booty from sticking up.
4.       Keep your back flat — don’t drop it or you’ll be defeating the purpose. Picture your body as a long straight board, or plank.

Next Fitness Friday, I’ve got some great information on nighttime visibility when you running/cycling & an exciting product review coming up.

Fitness Friday- Proud of my new PR!

Great news to report Friends!!! I motivated myself up, up, and away from last weeks fail and ended up with an absolutely STELLAR report to share with you!! Seriously, so proud of what I accomplished this week.  This week I not only exercised consistently, I drank water consistently, and lost weight (2.5 lbs!) but I also set a running personal record.  I am dying to tell you about that but I don’t want to overshadow what got me there this week.

I absolutely believe it was due to daily walking. I started walking with a group of ladies after we drop our kids off at school. We walk a good pace for approximately 4 miles every morning. (I typically run about 2.5-3 miles) Since last week was lazy for me, I made it a goal to walk with them everyday this week just so I didn’t fall into the same rut as last week. I’m telling you no exercise makes a body very bloated unhappy.

I did it. I showed up. Even on the days I felt like I didn’t have time or just wasn’t excited about it, I did it anyway. Monday-Friday, approx 4 miles everyday. We also each set a goal for ourselves every week. We just simply state what we would like to do and over the week we each encourage one another to keep going. This week my goal was to drink at least 60 oz of water everyday,a small achievable goal. I drank water and showed up to walk every morning.

Imagine my surprise when I went running and I was able to shave off more than a minute/ minute and a half off each mile. This was so unexpected and exciting. I had really been expecting it to happen months ago and just did not see any changes, granted it was one million freaking degrees of hot mess here in Texas so in reality I couldn’t have picked a more difficult time to begin. What can I say, I like a challenge?! I have been running for months now and I was just not where I had wanted to be. Now, lets not lead anyone astray here, I am still not fast. But this week I feel like  I WON!!!  I was using my little fitness runner girl app to track my distance and literally stopped in my tracks when I heard her voice say my mile per hour pace in my headphones. Shocked. I mean shocked. My body had finally caught on to what it was supposed to be doing. It was like Christmas.

Mentally I had given up trying to be faster. I was just doing my best. Giving it my all every time. And I am seeing improvement slowly. So Stinkin’ P.R.O.U.D of myself this week – In fact as I type this I have the HEATHER SMALL Proud (LONDON 2012)  playing in my head.  (Anyone watch the BBC show ‘Miranda’ ???- hysterical! Reader Tip of the day: WATCH THAT SHOW)

I am encouraged this week to keep going. Keep setting goals and keep showing up.

“What have you done today to make you feel proud?
