California Raisins : Healthy School Snacks and Lunches

As we gear up for a new back to school routine this year, our family is also planning ahead to have lots of healthy snacks and options for our lunch boxes. The kids and I were invited to participate in a fun #SnackToSchool party sponsored by California Raisins to get everyone extra excited about making healthy snack choices. This event was super fun and gave me tons of new lunchbox and after school snack ideas to share!

California Raisins #LoveYourRaisinsFrom strawberry cream cheese on raisin bread to spinach salad with sliced eggs & raisins, it was awesome to see my kids choose a few food options that I wouldn’t have expected them to have gone for first thing.  Visit for more great ideas on incorporating California Raisins for school snacks and lunch.California Raisins #SnacktoSchool spreadnSince then they have remembered how much they enjoyed those new foods and have started adding raisins to lots of foods, not just their lunchboxes. Making the healthy foods a fun event really helps trigger positive responses in our kids when they are making choices on their own.Because they are convenient and portable, California Raisins are a great choice for wholesome, healthy, on-the-go snacking.

They are a great value, too. According to the USDA, raisins are the most economical dried fruit combined with all health benefits that California Raisins provide, I don’t mind saying YES every time someone requests California Raisins added to my weekly grocery list one bit!California Raisin CollageWhile the kids were all busy with a coloring activity, the party moms gathered up sharing our nostalgic memories of the California Raisins. Several of us had collected all the special characters and of course everyone knew their signature song. The kids were so occupied with their coloring and playing with one another that they almost missed the grand entrance of a Special Guest Appearance from one of the REAL LIFE California Raisin characters!! Having 4 kiddos ranging from elementary to teens, all in different stages and eating styles, making an assembly line of school lunches just doesn’t work for us. It’s important to Randy and I have our kids practice making healthy lunch and snack choices for themselves. Mom and dad are helping them choose wisely by making smart decisions on what we buy. California Raisins are one snack option everyone loves.
