Ripley’s Believe It or Not Grand Prairie TX

Last week, I was able to attend the 4th grade class field trip to Ripley’s Believe It or Not in Grand Prairie, TX. My husband usually attends all field trips but with such a busy work week for him, this time I was going solo. Lucky for me, I had some awesome mama friends also chaperoning this trip. We carpooled had some great conversation and enjoyed the Ripley’s Believe It or Not experience together with our favorite 4th graders.
ripley's believe it or not entrance
The Ripley’s Believe It or Not building makes quite a statement as you first arrive. With its brightly colored spires to the mirrored dinosaurs out front, you are instantly curious to see whats is inside. Once you enter, you are presented with a choice of four different sections: the Ripley’s exhibits, the Palace of  Wax museum, the mirror maze, and the laser challenge. Our package included the Palace of Wax museum and The Ripley’s exhibits.

Once we had our designated groups we headed into the Palace of Wax. We had a lot of fun with photo ops with various political figures, celebrities, and characters past and present.

We had so much fun and there really were many more wax figures in the museum than we expected to see. We could have played around in there for quite some time but when you are with a large group you have to keep moving along. Because there was so much to see, our group choose to omit the scary wax hall since we didn’t know what exactly was in there. Always best to skip the door marked “Fear- Do not Enter”, right? We thought so.

Next, we moved on to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium. This was extremely interesting to the all kids and adults! There were so many exhibits from around the world here, 11 galleries with tons of interactive displays.  Worlds tallest man, shark bites, and interesting recycled art were some that we enjoyed most.  There was also a tornado alley exhibit that simulated what it was like to be in a real tornado.

It was impressive to see this statue stand completely up. I feel short on a regular day not to mention when I am compared to a man almost twice my height! Ripley's Worlds tallest man

These dresses were made from aluminum cans and toilet paper.  So much random and quirkiness here. You just never knew what you would see next!Ripley's Recycled art

I had wanted to visit the Ripley’s attractions and wax museum for awhile and after our visit, I’m glad we waited until our kids were older. Some of the historical figures and movie stars wouldn’t be recognizable to younger ones. One of my very favorite parts was tucked back in a corner….

Ripley's Zoltar

Anyone remember what movie this was from?
It sparked a great conversation (and idea for a summer movie fest) with our kids. I can’t wait to share more about that as part of our Summer Sun & Fun series!
