Treats not Tricks

When kids are having to spend lots of time indoors, filling them up with sugary confections with no where to burn off the extra energy is a very frightening thought so opting for these treats may help keep things fun and under control.

Dark Chocolate covered apples– Take a twist on the traditional caramel covered apples. The pairing of dark chocolate and apples create an antioxidant-rich dynamic duo that may help protect your heart.

Spiders on a log– This concept is pretty self explanatory just adorn your almond butter filled celery sticks with a plastic spider or two.

Mandarin Oranges made into pumpkins

Cheese Stick ghosts

Peepshi = Peeps + Sushi

Peepshi

Don’t let the kids have all the fun this Easter. Grown ups need a little marshmallow-sugar- encrusted fun too. The solution to this dilemma : Peepshi. and it will leave you with the most sophisticated sugar high yet.

I was introduced to the Peepshi craze by my neighbor, Jenn , who was whipping up a batch of these adorable and delicious treats earlier this week. Both the ingredient list and process are fairly simple. I advise 2 things before beginging: 1) have a scrap bowl ready otherwise you will find yourself devouring little bits of peep that lead to a BIG sugar high before the end is near. 2) Invite a friend because everything is more fun with a friend!

peepshi ingredients

To get started all you will need:

  • a Pizza Cuter
  • Fruit by the Foot
  • Peeps, in bunny or chicks form (or both! )
  • a sheet of Pre-made Rice Krispies. Its much easier to make once the marshmallow has set up a little at room temperature.

Start out by laying a length of Fruit by the Foot onto the Sheet of Rice Krispies

Cutting peepshi

Cut into length to form a roll around your choice of Peep

formin peepshi

Wrap Fruit by the Foot around the Peep roll you just formed

rolling peepshi

Ta-Da – You just made Peepshi! We got a little creative and made several varieties. Have fun with it and don’t forget to add chopsticks and a small dish of chocolate for a soy sauce effect.

lots of peeps

Have you ever made Peepshi? What are your favorite non-traditional Peep recipes?

4 Fun Photo Ideas for the BEST Holiday Cards #HolidayCardPhotos

This is a sponsored post through Global Influence. All opinions are mine.

I love the idea of sending Christmas cards. While it’s true that I love the idea of sending Christmas cards, in reality they usually end up being New Year’s cards by the time I’ve actually sent them to my intended loved ones. Keepin’it real y’all, keepin.it.real.   This is why my favorite cards to send and receive are photo cards. Laughter and merriment are not holiday specific which seems to best fit my mailing timeline. I also keep every photo card we’ve gotten through the years because I love seeing my friends faces as we unpack out our holiday decor. If you have happened to send a particularly fun photo it may get to stay out all year- feel free to take this as a challenge.

Christmas 2006 smile

The photo above is an old one of ours ( circa 2006) and not perfect in any way. That’s what made it my favorite that year. It was the real us. The “real” that comes through when you spend time with us. Through all of the perfectly posed frames during our photo session, this one was my favorite because it showed who we really were at that season of our lives. I encourage you to send cards that reflect who you are or something that is important to you. Maybe its quirky or off beat but your loved ones will get it and it will warm their hearts across the miles or even just across the street.

Now that I’ve got you all “pep talked” into creating the BEST holiday cards ever, here to help are some great ways to help you capture the photo and make it fun.

4 Fun Photo Ideas for the BEST Holiday Cards

#1 Baby It’s Cold Outside ( or maybe it’s not…)

Believe it or not there is a majority of the country that never sees snow in the winter. Your snowless friends love seeing pics of all that fluffy white stuff! Take your holiday pic outside. Have a snowball fight, build a snowman, or just enjoy the snow falling around you.

Ski, snow, sun and winter fun - happy family ski team

If you do live in the parts of the county that never see a flake,  you aren’t left out. Pair your bikinis with some Santa hats and head to the beach. No matter where you live get outside and include your surroundings in your photos.

#2 Laughing all the way

There is something about seeing others laugh that lifts our spirits too. Let your family get a little silly and just start snapping pictures. There is bound to be at least one that makes you erupt into laughter when you are looking at them after. Chances are that’s your prized shot.

#3 Happy Howl-idays & Meow-y Christmas

If you have furry family members ( no, I’m not talking about your Great Aunt Harriet), make them the holiday star this year. Cats, Dogs, Bunny,  maybe even your  hamster! Pets are a big part of your life so, let them take center stage on your holiday card. C’mon, just this once???

#4 Oh, what Fun! -Add  Props!

Use fun holiday props to add interest to your photos! Think items you already have. Ornaments, bows, strings of lights, candy canes, mistletoe, Considering using that Frosty the snowman you build in the front yard or mugs of hot coco in your jammies around the fireplace. If you happen to have a Santa hat, reindeer nose, scarves and mittens work well for holiday props too!

I can’t wait to see all the fun you guys have creating your holiday cards this year. In fact, I hope to see some of them in my mailbox! Whatever you do make it memorable and know that you really are sending a little bit of cheer with each Christmas card you write.

Happy Holidays Y’all!

Minted also has some of the cutest and most unique designs I’ve seen! I’ll give you a preview of some of the ones I’m considering:

Option 1: I love this one because of it’s ornament shape and it comes with the ribbon to hang it with. I love that our relatives and friends can display it on their tree & the gold glitter accent is darling.  It also allows you to add another picture or custom message on the back.

Option 2: This design caught my eye because we can recap several of our favorite picture and share the memory associated with it. Sometimes it difficult to pick just one picture that captures the feel for a holiday card. This design would be perfect for a family with a growing little one to show how much they’ve grown that year.

What I got my Husband for Valentine’s Day – Image3D

(I was provided product by Image3D for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own)

I assume most of you are aware of this but just in case, Valentine’s Day is TOMORROW! (If you have not gotten your significant other something by now, stop reading immediately quickly read on and then go to the store, make a card, write a love letter- do something- just do not let the time pass by. Trust me.)

Ok, now that we’ve gotten that out-of-the-way, I’m going to brag  reveal what I got my husband for Valentine’s Day. It’s pretty epic, if I do say so myself.  Background: We’ve been married for approx. 12 yrs now ( & just go ahead and throw in a couple more yrs for dating/engagement). What am I trying to say????

Well, we’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day every year & it’s pretty much my favorite holiday. This means we’ve each seen a lot of roses, cards, chocolate, fancy dinners and chick flicks. This year I wanted to give him something creative ( but also something more than a home-made card). I put together 5 of my most creative Valentine’s Day ideas and picked the one I thought he would most like.

Reel-Red-Viewer

Enter Image3D. Remember those super fun view-masters with all the reels of your favorite superheros and cartoon characters from when you were a kid? They were awesome right? Image3D makes custom 3-D reels and viewers for consumers—called Image3D Celebrate. They have the same look and feel of the old view-masters but the images are your own pictures! ( in fact if you still happen to have an original, I’m pretty sure the Image3D reels are compatible).  My husband loves vintage finds and has a collection of antique metal lunch boxes and original PEZ dispensers, so I knew this would be a perfect gift for him.

I got right to work making a reel of several of our favorite couple pics we’ve taken together over the years. I wanted there to be an awesome memory associated with every click.

couple pics

I was having so much fun with it that I made another reel of fun family pictures. family moments

The husband has also been asking for some of our family pics ( taken by the fabulous Stephanie Wilson Photography ) for his office. With the help of Image3D, his wish was granted & in an epic way!! I made a reel including those.  Now he can leave it out on his desk at work and shamelessly brag about his awesome kiddos.  It’s a great conversation starter and what a fun way to show off pictures of your kids, right?? I thought so too!

office pictures

I know he is going to LOVE it!! In fact, if you are near his office tomorrow stop in. I’m sure he would be glad to show it to you!

The great thing is that this gift is amazing for any occasion. Grandparents, anniversaries, wedding favors( imagine your family and guests enjoying these at the reception) and you could create new reels to add to it each year.  What kind of pictures would you put on your Image3D reel?
