Are you Costume Ready for Halloween?

With Halloween just around the corner, it was time for us to get our costumes in gear.  Each time I have planned too far in advance there are always literal last-minute costume changes. This Sunday I enlisted the help of Dr. Seuss and KidzVuz.com to sponsor this post and help us put on our thinking caps for a great Halloween planning session.

Believe it or not, capturing the attention of teens often requires a little something to keep them busy while we talk through ideas. This Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Bricky Blocks Build on Snapback Hat and Grinch knee highs helped to not only get them in the mood for dressing up but also helped keep them entertained while we talked.

Sebastian went right for building with the Dr. Seuss Bricky Blocks Build-On Snapback Hat Kit and Kaitlyn loved The Grinch Knee High Socks.

The Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat snapback hat kit includes hat, pieces, and a guide for building your own designs. The hat size is adjustable and fits most kids and even adults so you even mom and dad can have a turn with it.

Sometimes it just takes a simple gesture to show your family that no matter how much you’ve grown up it’s still fun to be silly together. We went through several ideas but it didn’t take long before we were laughing and had our costumes all planned out. It looks like I’ll be ordering a few more things from elope.com for our final family Halloween look. Stay tuned for a final reveal Oct 31st!

Do you know what your family will be dressing up for this Halloween?

Turn frowns upside down on rainy days with this Dr. Seuss The Cat in the Hat Bricky Blocks Build-on Snapback Kit by elope. Inspired by the beloved children’s book, this black snapback features soft black and white ears which frame the iconic white and red stovepipe hat. In the center of the hat is a white brick plate, compatible with most major brick building systems, which is perfect for crafting a variety of designs. We’ve even included a set of templates to help jumpstart your creativity. Whether it be building on a sunny Sunday morning or inventing on a rainy day, this Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat Bricky Blocks Build-On Snapback Kit by elope is sure to bring the fun out of the box and into your everyday.

The Grinch may be a mean one, but you’ll have nothing but love for these Dr. Seuss The Grinch Knee High Costume Socks by elope. Carefully crafted in bright green acrylic yarn, our original design features the iconic yellow eyes, hearts in three sizes, and Grinchy features made famous in the book. If you want to steal Christmas or add a great Grinchy accessory to your wardrobe, you’ll be set with these Dr. Seuss The Grinch Knee High Costume Socks by elope.

Need a Gift for a Grinch? 6 Holiday Ideas to Make Everyone Smile

Pinterest Image Holiday Babbleboxx

This post is sponsored by Babbleboxx.com All opinions are my own.

We’ve all got that someone(s) on our list that is a *little* hard to buy for. They’ve either got everything they need OR they’ll always tell you they don’t want a gift. Of course, this leaves you floundering the last few days of the season because YOU know they want something. I mean, you can’t very well let them be the only one with out a gift to open. This holiday CastelloPAM Cooking SprayCracker BarrelWellness Pet Food, and WHIMZEES offered to help us check off those hard to buy for on our holiday list and give the Grinch-iest of Grinches something to smile about.

6 Holiday Ideas to Make Anyone Smile

Create a CheeseBoard with Castello Cheeses

Castello Cheeseboard Babbleboxx Christmas

It is possible that not every guest has a sweet tooth. Some very dedicated may be starting their new year’s diet early or even posses the self-control to say no to holiday cookies. If that is the case, having a few good cheeses on hand will help you put together a chic holiday cheese board in no time.

Not sure what to include? Castello makes it SO easy! The Cheese Board Builder on their website helps you pick out the cheeses and pairs them with the perfect selections filtering by sensitivities or preferences, like vegetarian, alcohol free, and gluten-free.

Cookies & Milk

Cracker Barrel Christmas Babbleboxx

Santa isn’t the only one who has an affinity for milk and cookies. This time of year you can soften young hearts by showing up with a gift of milk and homemade cookies. These glass milk bottles from Cracker Barrel are the perfect addition to a vintage holiday party or classic cookie bar and make the occasion feel extra special. Pick up a few at your local Cracker Barrel gift shop and let each of your guests take theirs home for when Santa visits.

Also note the silver snowflake cocktail picks that came from Cracker Barrel too! From cookies to appetizers, you can serve everything with style.

Rosemary Bread and Olive Oil Spray from Pam

Pam Christmas Babbleboxx

If time prohibits you from getting together for the holidays this is a lovely gift idea for anyone on your list. Pick up a bag of pre-sliced baguette from the local grocery or bakery, tie a couple of sprigs of rosemary to the top with a ribbon and add a bottle of Pam Olive Oil spray. It’s a perfect gift to leave on the doorstep of a neighbor or to keep on hand for an extra gift.

I love having this Pam Spray at home because it’s non-stick, no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and it helps control how much is used when I have little hands helping in the kitchen. The eco-friendly part of me loves that its non aerosol too.

Treats For the Pet Lover

Whimzees Wellness Petfood Babbleboxx Christmas

So if food selections haven’t won over your Grinch showing love and welcoming their furry friends is sure to warm their heart. Make sure they know that your home is welcoming to them and their pet (It’s just for a day after all). Place a nourishing bowl of Wellness CORE Natural Pet food inside a festive wreath and tie up a couple of Whimzees dental chews and treats for them to take home. Little touches like this go a long way to telling them they were being thought of long before they arrived.

Christmas Central: Holiday Decorations

Christmas Central Holiday babbleboxx

Okay, so if we haven’t won them over with food and there are no furry friends to speak of we are left with only one option. Make things as festive as possible. Ridiculously so if needed. Christmas Central has it all. My favorite- big impact, minimal effort- is the outdoor snowflake projector. Here in Texas we don’t get a lot of snow but this will make your guest feel like they are walking up to a winter wonderland. Start playing a little holiday music and when you open the door there will be nothing but smiles for miles.

Hopefully these ideas helped check off the last of your list or offered a few entertaining ideas! What’s left on your holiday list ?

Santa Babies : Meeting Santa for the first time

One tiny human meets Santa

Woah, guys… Do you know who this guy is???? I hear he’s kind of a big deal.

We’ve all seen the semi-hilarious first photos with Santa that have taken turn for the worse. As with any first, no one can reallllly gauge what’s going to happen. I mean, this is legitimately the first time your child has seen someone dressed this way. If we’re being honest, that much red and fur combined is a BOLD choice for even the most magical of us. Bottom line, you just never really know how it’s going to go the first time your baby sees Santa.

This year my sister Baileigh, and brother-in-law Aaron had the BRILLIANT idea of inviting Santa over for the babies first visit. Bella, our “One Tiny Human” and our nephew, Harrison had a very special first visit with the man in the red suit and his lady this weekend.

Santa Babies : Meeting Santa for the first time

One Tiny Human with Santa

These guys have snacks, smell like peppermints, and are super cuddly. I think I like them.

They were so sweet with the babies and spent plenty of time getting know them, not being rushed through the moment. It allowed us to capture a few special pictures like when they were reading to them. We were able to enjoy coffee,  warm cocoa and Christmas cookies while the kids chatted with the Claus couple. It was a huge difference from the traditional mall Santa experiences that we’ve done before.

One Tiny Human and Harrison read with Santa

“Twas the night before Christmas…” read by Santa and Mrs Claus. So precious!

And because no one can resist a picture with Santa we jumped in front of the camera for a quick snapshot too. I think I will always love the magic of Christmas. (I am also kind of in love with Randy’s Christmas pug sweater.)

Family Santa Pic

Time for a family picture. The magic of Christmas is real no matter how old you get.

Family Santa pic with one tiny human

I highly recommend this for a first Santa experience or a 100th Santa experience for that matter. as you can tell, meeting Santa in this way completely put the babies at ease and we all had a lovely time together. We were able to capture some of the sweetest pics that I’m sure we’ll treasure forever.

Have you ever had a Santa come to your house? What was it like when you took your child to meet Santa for the first time ?

Holiday Magic is Everywhere in Arlington Texas

Enchant Christmas Arlington Texas

Last Friday, I was invited to spend the day touring some of the things the city of Arlington, Texas has in store for us this holiday season. You already know Arlington offers so much to take part in all year-long but this season is especially fun! If you are looking for an entire day of Christmas fun you are going to want to read all the way through this post. I even found a few spots I’ll be back to visit all year-long! I’ll let you guess which ones.

Decorator’s Warehouse & Rose Garden Tea Room 3708 W Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, TX 76013

Decorators Warehouse Arlington Texas

First stop on our tour was Decorator’s Warehouse. It has been recognized for years as the premiere Christmas store throughout Texas. Owners David and Kathy Hanson, who started the business in 1989, have pursued with great passion the design and creation of a Christmas store that would be unparalleled anywhere.

There are 20 different theme areas from snowmen, Santas and elves to rustic and woodland as well as beautiful elegant and classic themes, and so many more. Each theme area is an adventure in itself where you will see displays such as a full-size Santa’s workshop, a classic truck and life-size bears and Santas. They also feature the largest selection of Christmas trees in Texas as well as ornaments, wreaths, garlands, florals and everything else known to the imagination.

Located in the back of Decorator’s Warehouse is the Rose Garden Tea Room. We enjoyed lunch here after shopping a bit. They have a signature Rose iced tea. I recommend making a reservation because it is a very popular destination but so perfect to enjoy a day of Christmas shopping and lunching with your lady friends.

Downtown Arlington

After shopping to our hearts content we headed downtown to visit some more local shops. You know I am a huge supporter of shopping our local small business.

They have seasonal varieties that will keep you coming back and the location lends to additional shopping and eating locally too. This is a place I can see my husband really enjoying for date night or a night out with the guys.

Six Flags Over Texas 201 E Road to Six Flags St, Arlington, TX 76010

Six Flags Over Texas truly outdid themselves with a special surprise for us. They day of our tour they opened the park early just for us! Have you ever had an entire theme park just for yourself? I certainly never have. It was magical. all of the grounds are decorated for the holidays and the music playing made me feel like a kids again. But it just kept getting better!

We were first in line to experience Frosty Snow Hill where you can bring your family to go sledding down a hill made of real snow. Our group had the best time.
