Healthy Spring Snack Cups

I love celebrating holidays and seasons with fun foods. It’s also important to our family to stay committed to healthy eating. Sure we splurge now and then. For fun daily after school treats and such, I try keep it both fun and nutrition packed. These Healthy Spring Snack cups are a great alternative to “Dirt & Worms” for parties too.

Healthy Spring Snack Cups

Ingredients:
• 1 tub (7 oz.) of your favorite original hummus
• 1 package of baby carrots
• 1 tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa
• (optional) celery stock leaves

Supplies Needed:
• A sharp kitchen knife
• Clear plastic cups (found at Dollar Tree)

Healthy Spring Snack cups

Directions:

1. Using a spoon, fill your plastic cup with the hummus. (1) 7 oz. tub will fill 1 cup entirely to the top. For kids, I purchase smaller sized cups to be able to make several. Otherwise, buy the bulk container.

2. Use a spoon or small food strainer to spread the unsweetened cocoa on the top of the hummus. This will be your “dirt”.
3. Take the pointed end of a knife and hollow out a small hole in the top of a baby carrot.
4. Place a bit of hummus into the hole and place one of the celery leaves in it. This will make it look like a real carrot. (This step is optional)
5. Serve with additional carrots or your favorite pita chips for a delicious and nutritious treat!

3 Yoga Moves to Quickly Improve Posture & Flexibility

Over the last year, I’ve been seeing a chiropractor to correct some lower back and hip issues. I was amazed at how quickly my posture improved and my flexibility increased. I am still visiting my chiropractor but less frequently and am able to schedule more time in between visits now. Because I have really been able to appreciate how yoga helps the whole body I wanted to add other poses in too. Last week I shared the Stayfree promotion in partnership with Gaiam TV.
